Every soap you purchase from Hyssop Tree helps someone in need get a bar of soap. 2020 shed a new light on the value of a bar of soap.
Hyssop Tree soaps are not just handed out in the community - they become part of someone's journey out of something terrible. It takes a lot of careful effort to make sure we're helping people and not becoming part of a vicious cycle of dependency and poverty.
As God would have it, I visited Maryhurst in February of 2020 - just one month before the lockdowns and quarantine would be enforced. I talked with their leadership, I visited their campus and I met some incredible young ladies there.
If you had come with me on that visit, you would have found a place of hope and healing - a place where wounded young ladies come and discover that they matter and where they learn the skills they will need to make it as young adults.
It was more than a successful program, more than numbers and graduates - it was real people doing real life.
This is where you come in - every soap that you purchased helped a young lady at Maryhurst. It became part of her journey from pain to independence.
I was honored to take your soaps and deliver them. And I wanted to share with you the words that I received in a letter regarding your kindness:
Thank you for partnering with Hyssop Tree. Thank you for purchasing soap. And thank you for making a difference - for thinking of others and blessing them.
PS - I wrote this blog post after visiting Maryhurst in February 2020, if you'd like to learn more.
Hyssop Tree will be permanently closed starting March 31, 2021.
